Menaminiki began with a simple frustration: the pieces people love most are often the ones they are afraid to wear. We design for the opposite.
Start with how it will be worn, then design backwards.
Most jewellery is designed to be looked at. That is a reasonable place to start, but it produces pieces that photograph well and sit in a drawer. We begin at the other end — with the clasp that has to be managed one-handed, the chain that must not catch on a knit, the ring that has to survive a keyboard.
What comes out of that process tends to be quieter than what goes in. Silhouettes get simpler. Edges get softer. A motif that reads well at arm's length gets reduced until it reads well at conversational distance, which is the only distance that matters.
The result is a collection with fewer pieces than we started with, and a much higher proportion of pieces we actually wear.
Considered, then checked
Each design moves through drawing, sample and revision before it is made in a run. Samples are worn — daily, for weeks — because a finish that survives a photograph is not the same as a finish that survives a handbag.
Where a piece draws on the traditional vocabulary — temple collars, kemp settings, jhumkas — we keep the proportions the tradition established rather than modernising them into something thinner. Those shapes are already resolved.

Tradition — the beauty of trust
A warmer, harder-working gold
Rolled gold bonds a layer of gold to a base metal under pressure, rather than depositing a very thin coating electrically as plating does. The layer is substantially thicker, which is why rolled gold suits pieces intended for regular wear.
It also reads differently. The tone is warmer and less mirror-bright than high-karat gold, and it sits more quietly against skin — which is the quality the whole collection is built around.

Restraint
We would rather remove a detail than add one. If a piece works with nothing else on, it has earned its place.

Wearability
Weight, clasp, edge, length. The things nobody photographs are the things that decide whether a piece gets worn.

Warmth
Rolled gold has a softer tone than plating. We design around that warmth rather than trying to make it look like something else.

Honesty
We describe what a piece is and what it is made from, and we do not make claims about it that we cannot stand behind.
